DarusSalam Poultry Farms is a new venture based in Somalia, committed to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and improving the quality and availability of fresh eggs in the region. As we prepare to launch our first poultry facility in Afgooye, we’re seeking a dedicated research assistant to help us gather vital information that will shape the foundation of this project.

Responsibilities

• Collect up-to-date information on the cost of chicken feed and local feed suppliers
• Advise on the possibility and cost of growing chicken feed in-house
• Identify where to buy day-old chicks (from Somalia, Kenya, or Ethiopia)
• Compare prices and logistics for transporting chicks and feed
• Research existing poultry farms in Afgooye or nearby areas
• Estimate current egg tray prices in the local market
• Suggest possible sales/distribution channels for eggs
• Outline costs of chicken housing, veterinary care, and ongoing operational expenses
• Recommend any free or low-cost feeding options (homemade, natural sources)
