Core Responsibilities
- Genetic Improvement: Design breeding strategies to enhance desirable traits such as drought tolerance, pest resistance, nutritional value, and shelf-life.Â
- Trial & Evaluation: Coordinate multi-environment field and greenhouse trials to test new varieties against defined market segments.
- Data Management: Utilize statistical software and genomic tools to analyze genetic data and select the best candidate plants for advancement.Â
- Germplasm Management: Collect, introduce, conserve, and characterize germplasm to sustain ongoing breeding programs.Â
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align breeding goals with commercial, marketing, and production teams to ensure the final product meets farmer and consumer needs.
